A warm welcome to you!

In our modern life we are expected to move at such a speed that we mostly do not find free time anymore to give to ourselves, to let ourselves go, simply TO BE.

Every day of our life we experience obvious and hidden pressures from many sides - starting from well-meaning parents (they expected something from us when we were young, we have never met their hopes, and it still bothers us on some deeper level), up to the myriad media messages that inadvertently imply that material wealth, power and some physical parameters are the ultimate measures of success. Not to mention problems in the family, demanding bosses, creeping deadlines, strong competitors, busy traffic, weakening economy, global warming - you name it - there is so much to be stressed about. And stress leaves us feeling sad, or anxious, or mad, or hurt, or troubled; basically - bad.

What we tend to forget is that the ability for a healthy balanced life lies within ourselves. Nature has equipped us with an ability to not only manage stressful situations and events for a short time, but to also provide ourselves with the ultimate resource to re-balance those stress responses after the need has passed. But we have, in our society, largely forgotten how to do that of our own accord.

Sometimes we feel that we are in need of help. It can often be nice to chat to friends, or even to take a "talking cure." But this is like an analgesic pain-killer for a symptom of pain - a temporary solution to what we are obviously experiencing (which may be viable at the time), but does not address what is causing the symptom.

The Af-x approach developed by Ian White offers you today to let your inner self do the work of rebalancing your emotional patterns under the guidance of a trained practitioner. This emotional rebalancing process, the onset of which occurs within only 3 Af-x sessions, continues to develop within your subconscious at a pace natural for your personal being.

Deeply rooted in the unconscious affect processes, the Af-x process helps these early emotional learnings to gradually assimilate with what is required in your present-day adult self, allowing you to accommodate new feeling attitudes and responses. It can be described as "allowing a feeling part to grow up," and Af-x practitioners call it a re-integration of all affect parts. This is the business of "feeling whole again."

Throughout the course of our three sessions, I will tell you much more about these and other aspects of emotional well-being. My task is to help you gain a greater knowledge about your feeling "mechanisms" so that positive change to any emotional discomfort and imbalance can be achieved with greater ease.

This is the introductory material that I kindly ask you to read prior to our first session. Alternatively you can write to me at Re-Creation@irq.org if you would like to receive it in your e-mail, have any further questions, or would like to make an appointment.

I am a PhD psychologist who has chosen to work specifically in Af-x, as I am interested in working in the realm of specific affect (emotion) and long-term solutions, rather than deal with symptom relief or teaching coping skills.

My main office is in Leiden, The Netherlands. It is also possible to have an appointment with me in Belgium, St.-Truiden.

Remember, my direct email address is Re-Creation@irq.org
