Hello and welcome to the "Emotions In Balance" site.

My foray into the "helping" professions began when I studied psychology at the University of Tasmania. After graduating in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science I debated whether to go on to study psychology further. While I enjoyed the concept of working one on one with people in a counselling sense, I was never quite comfortable with the models and theories used in mainstream psychology and didn’t feel that the knowledge I gained had helped me understand my own and others' feelings and the behaviours arising from those feelings.

I undertook further training with Lifeline and became an accredited volunteer counsellor for their 24 hour counselling phone line. One shift on the Lifeline counselling service taught me more about human experience and emotional pain than 100 years of university ever could! I was continually challenged by the prevalence and depth of depression and despair in the community, and the resilience of people who hide such heavy feelings as they go about their day to day lives.

One of the things that struck me most was the number of people who just seemed to be "stuck." People who had endless counselling had tried every strategy and technique based on positive thinking and willpower yet were still unable to break free of the debilitating depression or fear they lived with daily.

I came across an early version of Af-x not long after this, and attended as a client. I was personally and professionally amazed by its apparent simplicity and its effectiveness (years of insomnia "cured" so easily!). Some years later, after working in the health sector in a range of capacities, I decided to train as an Af-x practitioner. One of the requirements of the training course is to have experienced the program yourself, and so I was sent to see a more recently trained practitioner. I wasn’t sure what, if anything, to expect from this "new and improved" version of what I thought I had experienced before, but I was astonished yet again by how much benefit I gained. If I needed any further convincing that I should undertake the training, this was it!

I completed my basic training in 1999, and have continued to keep my knowledge current through ongoing reading, debate and professional development workshops with Ian White while maintaining a practice in Hobart.

Please take the time to look through this website, there is a great deal more information here on the wide range of things you can achieve by undertaking the Af-x program.

And as for yourself – are you are the sort of person you want to spend the rest of your life with? Are you your own best friend? If not, Af-x can help you become who you truly want to be, and the person with whom you feel most comfortable.

If you would like more information or would like to enquire about booking in for the program, please contact me on ph 0439 435 560 or email
