"You already have all the resources
you need to change how you feel or behave"
Most mainstream therapies rely on professional
diagnosis and analysis to arrive at an in-the-present version
of what is wrong with a person. This can take any number of sessions,
followed by, either medication, or various techniques to try and
treat the identified symptoms. Also, many problems are seen as
'disorders' or 'conditions' that the sufferer can do little about,
without external "expert" advice.
But what if there was an approach that focused directly on the
underlying affect (feeling
or emotional) cause of the problem? One where you didn't talk
about your surface symptoms, personal history or past experiences.
One that focuses on your feelings and acknowledges that at some
level, you already "know" the true causes of your problems (and
only you could ever truly "know"). An approach to therapy that
understands that you already have the resources needed to bring
about positive change and simply aims to guide you in doing that.
One that involves just three contact sessions, that help your
subconscious, self-correcting resources back onto the right track.
Developed by Ian White over many years,
this is the unique, revolutionary and highly effective approach
used in affectology and is the much-needed move away from the
second-hand interpretation and analysis of the other therapies.
It is the result of a new understanding of the nature of the human
emotional matrix, that is, how we learned
to unconsciously respond to things at feeling and emotional level.
This new scientifically based view of how people develop and maintain
their emotional problems now provides the means for people to
privately and permanently resolve them.
Affectology is almost the opposite to every other therapeutic
approach and over his years of pioneering research, White showed
that much of its success lay in a strict adherence to the very
concepts that make it so different. He found it necessary to legally
register the term "af-x®" and apply this term to his courses
to safeguard the standard of training in his approach.
In all forms of therapy, many ex-students and ex-trainees often
find difficulty in maintaining strict guidelines of practice,
and do not keep abreast of new technology and improvements in
their field. This has also been true of training in affect-oriented
subconscious therapy. Yet, a number of affectologists have pursued
a continuous course of upgrading and improvement of the quality
of their work.
Acting on the advice and wish of a number of these responsible
practitioners, Ian extended his use of the term "af-x"
to signify best practices in therapeutic work as well as best
practices in training.
So, all af-x Practitioners, including those involved in
this website, have their work practices and therapy results monitored,
have permission to use the af-x title and you can be assured
that they provide the highest quality af-x Therapy.
| NOTE:
Throughout much of the text on this site you will see
the ® trademark registration tag attached to "af-x".
In our culture, this has a commercial significance and
denotes trade and commercial protection. Yet, this is
decidedly NOT the case with af-x®.
The principles and imperatives inherent in quality
af-x work are stringently adhered to by conscientious
practitioners. Some ex-students are less stringent. When
a professional is entitled to be referred to as an af-x
Practitioner, you know that that person has applied themselves
to quality training and continual professional upgrading,
and, through client feedback studies (ESRs),
have been monitored in their efforts to provide only the
best in affect-oriented therapy.
The registration of af-x is also intended to
protect the quality of training of future practitioners,
ensuring that White's strict educational guidelines are
adhered to in all programs displaying the af-x
title. |
