Within the Af-x network of professionals, we do our best not to criticize other fields of 'the helping arts' - unless, of course, as you know by now, they are in some way damaging to the very people they are meant to help.
We don't have to tell you that sites throughout the world wide web are chock-full of testimonials and shouts by either real people or not. We have no real urge to present reviews by clients that are other than authentic and give the correct TONE of what Af-x is all about. It's not an easy job, since the 'tone' of Af-x is one of gentleness, subtle emotional betterment and recovery from more serious issues in a way that allows for a steady but not 'loud' path into a future where we react to everyday life in mentally healthier ways. It is for this reason we are interested in you knowing about the sorts of reports that perhaps marketing gurus would scoff at - comments that attest to the gradualness of positive change in people's lives. But from our Af-x point of view, it is the gradual and perhaps more subtle changes that prove to be generally permanent. Why? Well, we don't know for sure, but we do know that it has something to do with the way the unconscious drops its vigilance against change and seems to not bother with its inherent sabotage mechanisms when we just allow the subconscious to go its quiet, effective way with new learnings. But what we are NOT saying is that people who do Af-x Therapy DON'T have immediate catalytic change in their lives that make them want to shout, "I'm Free!" and "I feel released!" Of course that happens in Af-x results, but we practitioners have just as great a respect - if not more - for the tortoise as we do for the hare. So you will not find the sorts of comments in our list of testimonials that yell out the things the marketing guns would want us to write. We would like you to accept that they are "there" but we're not going to fill up our pages with those shouts. To replace all those, and act as their literary representative, let us take one-only exuberant comment from Lisa, a 17 year old client who finished off her letter of thanks with - "... I can honestly say that if I had not undergone Af-x therapy, I might not be here today. Certainly I would not be enjoying the quality of life that I now am. I am speaking sincerely when I say that Af-x therapy turned my life around, and I cannot even begin to explain how amazing the changes have been. I still cannot believe that this therapy has had the effect that it has ..." |
The Nature of Af-x Testimonials
Af-x and Clinical Affectology are approaches that are closely related to the Oriental "Quiet Therapies" where talking is kept to a minimum and a "Mind Over Chatter" path to re-aligning the subconscious takes place. This carries over into post-therapy communication as well. The need for people to "say certain things" about the therapy and its results can always fall victim to a client's wish for their therapist to hear them report in particular ways.
The ESR (Efficacy Studies Research) system that is a mandatory requirement by registered Af-x Practitioners ensures that this tendency is overcome, since clients report anonymously to the International Guild of Affectologists and practitioners receive feedback data WITHOUT any knowledge of client identity. That said, there have been many opportunities where ex-clients have volunteered reports of their personal experiences post-therapy, knowing that it is important to "let people know." The testimonials that appear on the following page are a result of those volunteered reports.
